Long time no see! Here's English version of movie review. I already watched TMNT 2 on June, 2. It's advantage when you live in Asia.
Please keep in mind that I'm a fan of 2003 cartoon. I watched 80's cartoon when I was a child too, but after some time I become a fan of dark stuffs in TMNT comics lol. Finally, I watched 2012 version, and I don't really into it. Mikey is just... not Mikey I used to know. So here, my review about our beloved turtles. No spoilers.
Pros
- There is no boring part. Everything's moving so fast but not too fast that you cannot keep on the track.
- I think there should release the extended version because I saw some footage in the trailers that didn't make it to the movie. It would be interesting!
- At first I thought the plot about becoming human would not be great, but now I think I like it. Poor Mikey... It breaks my heart to see him like that. It's like these teenagers are confused about what they will be in the future.

- I like to see Leo and Donnie's bickering lol. We have seen the fight between Leo/Raph, Raph/Mikey, why not Leo/Donnie too lol.
- You'll like Raph. Our hot-headed turtle has his moments.
- The plot on the human side is less annoying and I kinda like it. Everybody is cool.
- Donnie is a nerd, even more nerd than the last film. His Jarvis-like computer is super cool!
- At this rate I don't mind if they add Apriltello but I'm glad they didn't. However, they remove Mikey-April thing from the last film, which I don't mind either. We have Casey!
- I like Krangg's voice?
- So many brotherly moments. I love it!
- I'm so glad they didn't add Leo/Karai. I'm sorry, but I don't ship them.
- Less advertorials lol. We don't have Toshiba board falling on us. But we have H&M, I think.
- This film is for kids. Period.
Cons
- Everything you need to know is already in the trailers. SO DON'T WATCH THE TRAILERS if you want to enjoy the film.
- Trailers seem to promise us a pack of actions. But actually it doesn't have much of it. The angle and action sequence are a bit off or too short. I like action scene in movie 2014 more than this one.
- I have to agree with IGN's review, the relationship between turtles is stale. I want to see some character development too but... I don't know. I can't find it. In the first film we saw at least Raph's development and some of Leo. In "Out of the Shadows" I want to see how Leo deals with the problems, but no, he's just complaining. I think they don't want Leo to be in spotlight much. The film tends to focus on Raph and Mikey though, which in my opinion could bring out the missing things from the last film to this one. But how they deal with it is not what I expected. I want to see Mikey not being too childish. In the last film he had a very good jokes on the right timing. I want to see him making a joke about Technodrome! (Avengers 1 lol) I like how they portray Raph and Donnie though.
- Since I'm Leo's fan, I have some questions when he makes decisions in the film. It's almost too childish, not-so-leader like. Sure, he helps everyone, but it feels backtracked from what I feel about him in the first film. You can change everything about Raph, Donnie, and Mikey to make children like them. You don't have to make children like Leo, because he is a leader and he must be strong. If he becomes immature then he's OOC to me. Although in this film he's not entirely OOC, just some moments I think he could do better.
- Mikey doesn't make jokes about X-MEN, Jedi, and stuffs like that at all. He did in the first film and I really like it.

- In my opinion, Splinter and Sherdder are non-exist. Their sensei is like a consciousness's voice in the back of their heads. Not good, man, not good. I see Sherdder doing this and that, but nothing important. Maybe they keep him for the third film.
- Since the actions are not quite good, the fight between turtles and Krangg doesn't meet my expectation. I think they waste him...
- Not only in action scenes, some angle is not quite good, especially at the end of movie.
- I think only those TMNT fans and kids will enjoy this film. I'm a fan, but I see some complains from normal audiences saying the plot is too shallow. Well it is! But I'm a fan so lol.
- This film is for kids. Period. If you like 2012 cartoon version, you'll like it. But since I'm 2003 fan, it doesn't impress me much. This film is supported by the big name from China such as Alibaba, so I think they toned down from the first film to, you know, sell toys. A lot of toys.
Maybe I'll re-watch it. So far I'm happy to see turtles again! :)
